November is United Methodist Student Month
One of the major challenges that students face is a lack of financial support to attain a college education. Worrying about expenses adds to the already existing anxieties many students experience. This month is about supporting students through scholarships, as they prepare for life in uniting faith with knowledge. Envelopes will be available at church, or you can go to http://www.umcgiving.org/giveumsd to give online.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD
Our packing party will be Saturday, November 12 at 6:30p. We pack shoeboxes each year to bless children in need around the world. Our church is still looking for donations to fill the shoe boxes and money to cover for shipping costs. You can bring both to church on Sunday or call the church office to bring it over during the week.

THIS WEEK’S WITH PASTOR: Luke 17:11–19
Topics: Thankfulness, Gratitude, Blessing
Big Idea of the Message: Thankfulness leads us into the presence of God and is an appropriate response to what God has done in our lives.
Application Point: We can develop a lifestyle of thankfulness by intentionally building a spiritual practice of gratitude and learning to express spontaneous appreciation throughout each day.
Discussion Questions:
What is one thing that stood out to you from this week’s message?
What are some ways you can begin to practice gratitude each day or week?
What are some ways you can incorporate spontaneous thanksgiving into your life?
How has a grateful person affected your life? How has someone with an ungrateful attitude influence your life?
How can we pray for you?
Take turns praying out loud by completing this single sentence: “Father, I thank you because…”

And a little about our Staff Members…

Rev. Denise Tiedemann has been serving United Methodist Church for over 20 years. She has served as the lead pastor at DeBows UMC, Pleasant Grove UMC in Jackson and FUMC in Farmingdale. Prior to that appointment she was the lead pastor at Centenary UMC in Lambertville and Linvale UMC in Ringoes. Denise, along with her husband Joe, created Jackson Arts Ministry which serves the Jackson area. Denise was instrumental as part of a church plant and a church revitalization effort. Denise loves working with children and has served as the Annual Conference’s Childcare Coordinator. She and her husband Joe have four wonderful children, and she loves being a wife and mom most of all. Her background prior to being a pastor was in theater and music, and she loves giving her best to God and the wonderful churches she’s had the privilege to serve. Her heart for mission has led her to serve with A Future with Hope and the Skainos Project in Belfast. Denise is energized remembering that all of us are created in God’s image and looks to share the life-giving hope of Jesus Christ to as many people as possible.
