THIS WEEK’S WITH PASTOR: Luke 2:25–35
Topic: Simeon, Hopes, Disappointment, Waiting
Big Idea of the Message: Even though he had experienced disappointment, Simeon found great hope when he saw the Messiah, Jesus.
Application Point: We will be hopeful people while we wait on God.
What is one thing that stood out to you from this week’s message?
What good thing would you wait a long time for?
Who was Simeon?
What did God promise Simeon?
Have you been disappointed while waiting?
What does Simeon teach us about disappointment and hope?
How can we pray for you?
If you are interested in ordering poinsettia plants this year in the name of or in memory of a loved one you can pick up a form on Sunday or order them online through our website. You will need to return the form by December 8. The cost of each plant is $8.00. You are welcome and encouraged to take your plants home to enjoy after the Christmas eve services.

Christmas Giving Tree – All gifts are due by Dec. 18 Wrapped if indicated
Each year we have a giving tree for children in need. The children are referred to us by Anchor House Shelter and families in the local community who call us seeking help. We provide a Christmas gift for each child. If you feel you can purchase a gift for one or more child in need, please stop at the welcome table on Sunday and select a child to help from our list. Any questions call or e-mail Eileen Triolo 732-905-2893 or [email protected]
We are also collecting NEW socks (including slipper socks) for youth boys and girls (ages 12-17) that are in Anchor House now through Dec.18. There will be a drop box in the narthex or you may drop them off at the church office during the week.
The show dates are Saturday, December 3 at 6:00p here at Jackson Church and on Sunday, December 4 at 5:00p at St. Johns UMC in Ocean Grove. Check the JAM website http://jacksonam.org to view details and buy tickets.
Our show starts off with vocal and dance performances by our JAM students. Following the performances is our intermission where you can buy concessions and settle in to watch Elf. Tickets are still available for the Ocean Grove show. We anticipate the show to sell out so do not wait to buy tickets! You will be able to pick up tickets the night of the show. Doors open 30 minutes before showtime.
LIVING NATIVITY AND SOUP DINNER
Join us for a Christmas tradition! On Saturday December 10th, we will have a soup dinner starting at 6:00pm indoors, followed by the Living Nativity outdoors at 7:00pm. The nativity tells the story of our Jesus in the manger through live actors and animals, a children’s choir, readings, and some favorite Christmas carols. Following the story, dessert will be served. The Living Nativity is performed by volunteers from several of our ministries including Christian Friends Forever (Special Needs Ministry), our Sunday School, and children’s choir. There is no fee for any part of the evening. Everyone is welcome!
Watch our website http://jacksonam.org to see the list of all the classes for our spring session after the new year. We will also have more
JAM-inars which are classes that are held for only 1-2 days
We will be hosting a Grief Share 13-week program early in the new year. If anyone in need of one of these programs, please email Eileen at [email protected] for more information. These meetings will be held online only.

And a little about our Staff Members…
Rev. Denise Tiedemann has been serving United Methodist Church for over 20 years. She has served as the lead pastor at DeBows UMC, Pleasant Grove UMC in Jackson and FUMC in Farmingdale. Prior to that appointment she was the lead pastor at Centenary UMC in Lambertville and Linvale UMC in Ringoes. Denise, along with her husband Joe, created Jackson Arts Ministry which serves the Jackson area. Denise was instrumental as part of a church plant and a church revitalization effort. Denise loves working with children and has served as the Annual Conference’s Childcare Coordinator. She and her husband Joe have four wonderful children, and she loves being a wife and mom most of all. Her background prior to being a pastor was in theater and music, and she loves giving her best to God and the wonderful churches she’s had the privilege to serve. Her heart for mission has led her to serve with A Future with Hope and the Skainos Project in Belfast. Denise is energized remembering that all of us are created in God’s image and looks to share the life-giving hope of Jesus Christ to as many people as possible.
