THIS WEEK’S WITH PASTOR:
Christmas Eve: John 1:1–18
Topic(s): Salvation, God’s Power, Grace
Big Idea of the Message: We were helpless to save ourselves, so in the fullness of time, God sent Jesus to save us.
Application Point: Whatever may happen to us in the year to come, we can live with the confidence of God’s presence in our lives.
Discussion Questions:
What is one thing that stood out to you from this week’s message?
Have you ever received a gift so extravagant that you didn’t believe you deserved it? How did it feel? What did you do?
When you hear that salvation is by grace alone and not by works, do you feel any resistance to that statement? Why or why not?
In what areas of your life have you felt the most helpless?
Have you seen God’s power at work in your life in the past year? If so, how?
What are some of the challenges you face in celebrating Jesus in the midst of Christmas busy-ness? What are some ways you have carved out time and energy to honor him?
How can we pray for you?

Christmas Day: Luke 2:22–35
Topic(s): Jesus Christ, Darkness, Light, Messiah, Salvation, Nunc Dimittis, Simeon
Big Idea of the Message: Jesus Christ has been born! He is the fulfillment of the promises of God to his children and the world.
Application Point: God’s promises of salvation are always fulfilled, and people who are faithful to him can partake in these promises. Can you, along with Simeon, recognize Jesus as the salvation of the world?
Discussion Questions:
What is one thing that stood out to you from this week’s message?
How can you celebrate the coming of the Light in your life?
What does it mean that Jesus is “a light for revelation to the Gentiles”?
In what ways does this Scripture foreshadow what is to come?
How is Jesus the Light?
Can you, along with Simeon, recognize Jesus as the salvation of the
world? Can you confess to it?
How can we pray for you?
