Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers. Psalm 1:1-3 (NIV)

God has made a monumental promise to us! If we stand on that promise; if we delight in the promise; if we meditate on that promise we find peace and security. God’s promise: Nothing can separate us from His love. He is with us – our children; our parents; our loved ones. He put us in the right places, like trees by streams. He creates situations for us to yield fruit in season and we will not wither.

I find it helpful to do something called breath prayer. It is simply deep breathing and as you inhale you pray the first part of a short phrase and then on the exhale finish the prayer. I set my alarm on my phone to remind me hourly to take a moment to breathe and focus on God.

Read the instructions first, then give it a try:
Take a moment to relax, close your eyes, then take a few deep breaths.
Deeply inhale and as you inhale pray: “I am God’s!”
Pause for a second
Then exhale and pray: “He strengthens me!”

Feel free to modify the short phrase. Here are some examples:
God, I am here…fill me with your peace.
Speak, Lord…your servant is listening.
My help comes from the Lord…the maker of heaven and earth.
When I am afraid…I will trust you.

Peace and Prayers,
Pastor
