Welcome! You made it to day 5. You have accomplished such a positive thing not only for you, but for the world around you. Congratulations!

As we begin, start with a mental and physical checking. It is always a good idea to start off getting in a place where you can focus. Share any stress, tensions, or worries with God.

The time in between each step will be extended a few seconds today because you are more comfortable with the format and time spent with God through scripture.

Start by taking some deep breaths and as you begin breathing deeply, let your thoughts focus on spending these next 4 or 5 minutes with God.

Breath –

Take one more breath and if you are able, close your eyes as you exhale.

Listen
Today I will read Jeremiah 29:11
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Say the word or phrase that you feel connected to out loud.

Pray
Now we will say a short focusing prayer and pause for about 30 seconds as we open ourselves to God, pray with me, “God open me to your presence. Amen.”

Pause (30 seconds) –

Reflect
Go deeper listening to the verse again. After the reading there will be a little silence providing space for you to just be with God.

Jeremiah 29:11
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Silence for you and God –

Contemplate
Let’s pray together and then contemplate in silence for 30 seconds, “God please be present in my thoughts and my heart. Amen.”

Pause 30 seconds –

Respond
Do you feel you are done or is God prompting you to respond? If you are done, close by praying, “God, thank you for this time, Amen.”

If you feel God asking you to respond, pray, “God guide me, here are my thoughts, help me to respond the way You are asking, Amen.”

Whenever you’re ready open your eyes. Notice how you are feeling.

There is much advice for helping to maintain healthy habits on the internet, one of my favorites is simply to set the alarm on my phone for every day at the same time as a reminder to connect with God this way. I read the Bible apps verse of the day using this process of spiritual devotion as I grow in my relationship with God. You can do it!

May God bless you!
