Our mission is to do as much good as we can. We reach out to those in need through various programs. Our congregation supports all our efforts to meet the needs of those in our community who need emergency food, help at the holidays, Christmas gifts for children and/or a warm coat in winter.
ANNUAL COAT DRIVE
Each year in October, Outreach and the Sunbeam Preschool have a coat drive. We collect gently used coats and jackets. We need pre-teen, teen and adult (men and women) jackets and coats. The coats are distributed to Anchor House Children’s Shelter and Family Outreach Programs in Trenton. The coat drive will start on Sunday, Oct. 1 and end on Friday, Oct 27, 2023. Donated coats can be placed in the closet located in the church Narthex (lobby). Thank you for your generosity.
We have members and friends of our church who need a little help to have a nice dinner at Thanksgiving. We have four families in need. We have a sign-up sheet with a list of items needed in the church and here on the website. If you can provide one or more of these items to fill the basket with a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, please bring them to the church. If you know of someone else in need, please request assistance through the church office or call Eileen 732-905-2893. All items will be due on or before Nov. 12, 2023. Items needed include: stuffing, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, turkey gravy, mac and cheese, cranbury sauce, canned fruit, canned corn, canned green beans, cake mix, frosting and pancake mix. $25 gift cards for the Turkeys would be greatly appreciated.
CHRISTMAS GIVING TREE
Starts Sunday, Nov. 26 and all gifts are due by Sunday, Dec. 17at the church.
The Christmas Giving Tree is an annual outreach event. Each year we have a giving tree for children in need and children of families referred to us. The children are referred to us by Anchor House Shelter and families in the community who call us seeking help. We provide a Christmas gift for each child. If you feel you can purchase a gift for one or more children in need, please stop by the church on any Sunday starting Nov. 26 and select a child or two to help from our list. We are currently in need of the following items: Spaghetti sauce, Spaghetti, Crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, beef gravy, peanut butter, jelly, tuna, mashed potatoes, pancake mix, crackers, mustard, mayonnaise, ketchup and cake frosting. As always gift cards in $20 denominations will be much appreciated.
GRIEF SHARE PROGRAM
We offer Grief Share Programs twice a year in March and September. This 13-week program is a weekly seminar/support group featuring experts in grief recovery. This program is Bible-based with the purpose of supporting those who have lost loved ones. It is a place where people find healing and hope. We also off a two- week program, “Loss of a Spouse” in February and September. All programs are products of Griefshare.org and are offered on Fridays from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm.
