POINSETTIA DURING ADVENT AND CHRISTMAS ARE A WAY TO REMEMBER OR HONOR YOUR LOVED ONES – Sunday, December 5 at 10am during worship
We are setting aside a special time for remembering and honoring loved ones on Sunday, December 5 during our worship service. The love of those relationships are significant. God has blessed them. Also, for those we are remembering who have gone to be God in heaven, we recognize God’s amazing grace through Jesus Christ.

We will be reading the names and placing a poinsettia in the sanctuary for each loved one that will remain in the sanctuary until Christmas. If you include a picture of your loved one, we will show it as their name is read on December 5. You can make a donation to cover the cost of the poinsettia, but it is not required to participate. To participate in the time of remembrance click this link to list the name(s) and order your poinsettia(s).

PLEDGE SUNDAY
Sunday, November 20th is Pledge Sunday. Pledge Sunday is an opportunity to support Jackson Church by planning your 2022 giving. Jackson Church sincerely appreciates all the donations and commitment to the ministry of Jesus Christ from each member! Let’s pledge towards 2022 so we can do even more ministry in Jackson and around the world as we continue to love as we have been loved by God and make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

STUDENT DAY – Sunday, November 28
United Methodist Student Day is November 28, 2021. It’s a day when we celebrate our United Methodist students and receive an offering to support scholarships for qualified United Methodist applicants.

We are grateful for our students and their desire to fulfill their dreams. Our students are the future of The United Methodist Church. Let us honor them in a special way on Student Day. When you give to the United Methodist Student Day offering, your gifts support the Gift of Hope Scholarship that is awarded to United Methodist students annually.

Please pray for our students and add the date to your calendars and be prepared to support our students.

Thank you.

THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER
Kick off the Christmas season with a night of fun at Jackson Church!

In this hilarious Christmas classic, a couple struggling to put on a church Christmas pageant is faced with challenges from every direction. You won’t believe the mayhem – and the fun – when the Herdmans collide with the Christmas story head on! Before the play, performers from our dance and vocal classes will take the stage and present what they have worked on over the past few months.

Snacks and drinks will be available during intermission, all proceeds go right back into supporting the program. Come out and support the kids!

We will also be performing on Dec. 5th at 4:00 PM at Farmingdale UMC if you aren’t able to make this show! https://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-best-christmas-pageant-ever-tickets-206281211657

MISSIONS, VOLUNTEERING, AND SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD
From children to seniors, people pack shoebox gifts each year to bless children in need around the world. Parents often use the project to teach their kids about giving. Year-round volunteers support these efforts across the country.

In more than 100 receiving countries, shoebox gifts are used by local Christians as a strategy for evangelism, discipleship, and the multiplication of believers and churches in their communities. More important than the items inside the shoebox, the gifts are an opportunity to share God’s love—and the Good News of Jesus Christ—with children in need. Local Christians who know the culture and language best are given effective resources in their own language and a solid Biblical foundation so that they can communicate the Gospel within their own communities through shoebox outreach events and The Greatest Journey discipleship program.

In the 11 countries where shoebox gifts are packed, Operation Christmas Child provides an opportunity for participants to be a part of fulfilling the Great Commission. Jesus said “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19). In this church-to-church ministry model, churches who pack shoebox gifts partner with local churches around the world as they share God’s love with children in need and provide follow-up discipleship through The Greatest Journey.

Packing Shoeboxes at home:
1 Find a Shoebox
Start with an average-size cardboard or plastic shoebox. If you want to wrap it, cover the box and lid separately. You can use your own shoeboxes or order our colorful preprinted ones, available in both corrugated cardboard and plastic. These sturdy options hold up well and can be lasting gifts in themselves for children to store cherished items.

2 Get Your Label
Visit our Label Options page to find out whether an adhesive or printable label is best for you. Whichever you choose, use the label to indicate on your shoebox whether it was packed for a boy or girl and which age category: 2–4, 5–9, or 10–14.

3 Fill with Gifts
Select a medium to large “wow” item such as a soccer ball with pump or stuffed animal, then fill with other fun toys, hygiene items, and school supplies. Don’t forget to also include a personal note and photo—sometimes these are the child’s favorite things to receive!

4 Pray
Most importantly, “pray without ceasing” (1 Thess. 5:17) for the child who will receive your shoebox gift.
Please also pray for:
Their family to also be receptive to the Good News of Jesus Christ.
The pastor of the church who delivers your shoebox gift.
Their community to be transformed by the Gospel.

5 Donate $9 Per Shoebox:
A donation of $9 per box is critical to cover shipping and other project costs. For easiest processing, you can give online through our Label Options or Ways to Give pages, or by mailing a check in the postage-paid envelope available in our print brochure. If you use an online option on the Labels page, you can Follow Your Box and discover the destination of your gift.

6 Drop Off
Take your shoebox gift to a local drop-off location during National Collection Week, Nov. 15–22, 2021.
